Fung Yip on Form in Malaysia

Tsz Fung Yip made it three tournament wins on the bounce on the Malaysian Tour as he defeated Ivan Yuen on home soil in a battle of the top two seeds to take home the PSA Challenger 5 title in Kuala Lumpur.

Fung Yip, who won his first PSA World Tour title in the first part of the tour in March, powered through to the final without losing a game and defeated surprise package Eain Yow Ng in the previous round.

Yuen’s last final was also in Kuala Lumpur at the NSC SRAM No.2 last year and he made similarly good progress en route to the final, taking out Elvinn Keo in the semi-final.

It was Fung Yip who took the opening game 11-8 but Yuen shot straight back to level things up in the second by the same margin.

Buoyed by his excellent recent form however, Fung Yip upped the ante and the 21-year-old from Hong Kong forced his opponent back with some superb shots to take the third and fourth games to earn his third PSA World Tour title and win the match 11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 11-9.
