Beng Hee Leads Charge In ToC Qualification

Malaysian Ong Beng Hee, the former World No.7, lead the way during the opening round of qualification encounters at the J.P Morgan Tournament if Champions in New York, overcoming Chris Hanson 3-0 to go into today’s (Thursday January 15) qualifying finals.

Beng Hee will face dangerous Egyptian Mohamed Reda for a place in the main draw while rising Peruvian superstar Diego Elias, the 17-year-old World Junior Champion, will look to make his first appearance in the sublime setting of Grand Central Terminal after pulling off an impressive 3-2 win over Scotland’s Greg Lobban. Elias will now face Mazen Hesham for a place in the main draw.

Frenchman Lucas Serme, who has impressed on the PSA World Tour over the past six months, ended the hopes of local favourite Chris Gordon, securing a well-earned 3-1 victory to set up a deciding encounter with Alan Clyne, the gritty Scotsman, while elsewhere Zac Alexander, Cesar Salazar, Martin Knight, Mohamed Abouelghar, Ryan Cuskelly, Cambell Grayson, Alfredo Avilla, Tom Richards, Joe Lee and Mahesh Mangoaonkar kept their hopes of a main draw place alive with victories.
