Frost Makes The Move In Belgium

18 December 2014

Denmark’s top seed Kristian Frost Olesen marked up the third PSA World Tour title success of his career at The Move Open, the inaugural PSA Challenger 5 event at Sportcenter the Move in Torhout, Belgium.

But the favourite was twice stretched to five games – firstly in the quarter-finals when he squandered a two-game lead against Eddie Charlton before beating the unseeded Englishman 11-8, 11-3, 7-11, 4-11, 11-7.

The 23-year-old from Odense (pictured) faced another unseeded English opponent in the final. Jaymie Haycocks made his breakthrough in the quarter-finals where he defeated third-seeded Dutchman Dylan Bennett.

After Olesen took the first two games in the final, Haycocks staged a fight back to force a fifth game decider.

But the 28-year-old from Birmingham, ranked outside the world top 100, was unable to capitalise on his turnaround as the Dane raised his game to close out the match 11-9, 14-12, 3-11, 9-11, 11-8.

It was Olesen’s first appearance in a Tour event since winning the PSA Challenger 5 Canary Islands Open in December.
