Nicolette Fernandes is Guyana's leading squash player and has consolidated her position near the top of the World Rankings with a number of strong finishes at various tournaments throughout the years.
After winning a gold medal for Guyana at the 2006 Central American and Carribean Games, Fernandes suffered a career-threatening knee injury which kept her out for almost two years.
She kept at it though and a considerable rise in her World Ranking was met with a title at the Internacional Sports Open in May 2012.
Fernandes made it to the final of the Orange County Open later that year and came exceedingly close to lifting the Irish Open Crown in both 2013 and 2015 but fell to Madeline Perry both times.
